As an undergraduate student with a keen interest in optometry, I am happy to be a part of the Corktown Eyecare team as an optometric assistant. With plans to pursue an optometry degree, I am grateful for the opportunity to learn more about patient interactions and the diagnosis of eye diseases during my time at the clinic. There is an emphasis for optimal patient care at Corktown Eyecare, and I look forward to meeting that standard of care for whoever visits us. Not only do I get to experience the process of eye care that is always ongoing, but also engage with the wonderful staff that have taught me the importance of being an optometric assistant as we are the patient's first point of contact. Besides my passion in eye care, I enjoy reading leisurely, discovering new music, and volunteering wherever possible!
Hi, my name is Eric and I'm excited to be an optometric assistant here at Corktown Eyecare. I am currently a university student hoping to pursue optometry in the future and I'm looking forward to learning more about the various aspects of the field of optometry through this opportunity. I am also eager to learn more about vision care, especially regarding eye disease treatment and prevention methods. I look forward to interacting with all patients and working together with Dr. Vakani and the other amazing staff here to provide patients a great visit and clear vision. When I'm not working or studying, I spend my time swimming, checking out hiking trails, and watching TV shows.
Hi, I'm Mary Jane, and I'm an Optometric Assistant at Corktown Eyecare. I assist our doctor in performing eye tests for our patients and love expanding my knowledge and skills about eye diseases. As a registered nurse in my home country, I have a strong background in healthcare. Outside of work, I enjoy watching anime and Korean dramas, as well as pursuing my interests in arts and photography. One of my favorite quotes is "If you don't take risks, you can't create a future" by Monkey D'Luffy. I believe in taking chances and creating opportunities for myself and those around me. Come visit us at Corktown Eyecare and let's create a brighter future for your eyes!
I am certified with The Canadian Association of Optometrist as a CCOA (Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant). I love helping patients by educating them on the importance of routine eye exams and helping them find the right pair of glasses for work, for reading, or specific hobbies like sewing or reading music. I especially love seeing children gain confidence when they can see the board at school without straining or squinting and are able to learn. The industry is always changing and growing. As such, I am a big believer in constant learning about new products and clinical knowledge.
